SNP’s alcohol price hike is unjustifiable

IEA Head of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon has been quoted by The Daily Mail in their piece exploring the SNP’s proposal of raising the minimum unit price of alcohol by 30 pence.


The Daily Mail wrote:

“Christopher Snowdon, head of lifestyle economics at the Institute of Economic Affairs, said: ‘Minimum pricing costs Scottish drinkers tens of millions of pounds a year. Talk of hiking the price to 80p per unit is a sick joke. This policy should be abolished.”
