IEA Chief Operating Officer and Energy Analyst Andy Mayer has been quoted in The Daily Express and The Daily Mail responding to the government’s new Power Up Britain report.

Andy said in The Mail:

“Real environmentalism, like economics, recognises trade-offs.

“We need energy, we need a cleaner, greener planet, and prosperity through growth.”

Andy also criticised the proposal in The Express saying:

“[The government] are placing speculative bets and using taxpayer money on a series of unproven technologies – from carbon capture and storage to heat pumps and hydrogen.”
