The IEA’s Head of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon has commented in the Daily Express about the cost of obesity to the NHS.
“We heard all this stuff about smoking a couple of years ago and people say ‘oh smoking costs the NHS’. It doesn’t – for the same reason, obesity doesn’t cost the NHS and governments, in particular, a great deal of money because there are a lot of savings that go along with the costs.
“The real crisis the NHS is facing is the ageing population.”
