Julian Jessop, IEA Economics Fellow, has been quoted in The Times reflecting on comments by the Truss campaign about the Bank of England.
Referencing Truss’ criticisms of the BoE for failing to contain inflation, Julian said:
“A lot of people have overinterpreted [her words] as an attack on the independence of the Bank of England. I think it’s more just a reflection that things haven’t gone well and maybe it is time to look again at the mandate, or try to work out if there are other things that could be done better.”
