The chancellor should do everything he can to support the recovery


Julian Jessop quoted by the Financial Times

Ahead of the Chancellor’s Spending Review this Wednesday, IEA Economics Fellow Julian Jessop told the Financial Times that there’s “no rush” to fill any fiscal gap.

Julian argued that the Chancellor should do “everything he can” to support the economic recovery”.

And with reports of a potential public sector pay freeze, the Chancellor should bear in mind that “teachers and civil servants are consumers too”.
