Responding to proposals to hike taxes to repair the public finances post-Covid, the IEA’s Academic and Research Director said that the Treasury should instead be “turning its attention to ensuring the economy can bounce back”.
Syed told The Telegraph that the government would do well to consider “a radical package of measures to reduce the tax and regulatory burden on business” and “definitely avoid measures that increase burdens on businesses, many of which are struggling.”
