Coronavirus has “given politicians an opportunity to drive in the final nail” to the pub industry after years of damaging policies such as the smoking ban and “extortionate” alcohol taxes says Christopher Snowdon, Head of Lifestyle Economics at the Institute of Economic Affairs.

Writing for The Morning Advertiser, Christopher notes that despite “a conspicuous lack of evidence” that pubs are a significant vector for transmission, they have “borne the brunt” of every policy change.
