Annabel argues Public Health England “dropped the ball” on more pressing issues by focusing on paternalistic interventions which had little effect on the nation’s weight.
She adds that ““Overweight and obesity” issues accounted for just 1.8 per cent of the NHS budget in 2016 and 3.4 per cent of hospital admissions” and that a better focus would be on helping those who missed out on routine healthcare appointments during the height of the pandemic to catch up.
