Len Shackleton comments for ITV
Len Shackleton, Editorial and Research Fellow at the IEA, has commented on Oxfam’s reccomendations that the wealthiest limit their consumption to help achieve the goals agreed at the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement and avoid “plundering the planet”.
Len argued that Oxfam’s claims are spurious, amounting to little more than “anti-rich ‘research’ from a charity which would be better engaged…in relieving poverty”.
Further, if Oxfam’s proposals were to be enacted, Len claims that it would set a worrying precedent for state intervention in the private lives of individuals.
