IEA Chief Operating Officer and Energy Analyst Andy Mayer has been quoted in City AM commenting on the creation of a new department dedicated to energy security and net zero.

Andy argued that the revamped department would “do nothing to address the UK’s hostile environment for energy investment”.

He further commented:

“Whether fossil fuels or low carbon the message today is to expect high and random taxes. Meanwhile, nothing has been done to reform the planning, permitting, and environmental regulations that turn two-year projects into ten-year slogs through bureaucracy and the courts.”
