The government announced this week that it will offer 90,000 households in England and Wales grants of £5,000 to help them replace old gas boilers with low carbon heat pumps.

Quoted in the Express Online, IEA Chief Operating Officer Andy Mayer argued that the plan is “essentially a woke welfare scheme for the wealthy”. 

He warned that the scheme will lead to higher energy bills for those still on the gas grid.
