Government is creating a two-tier adulthood

Responding to government plans to limit online slots to £5 per spin, Head of Lifestyle Economics at the free market Institute of Economic Affairs Chris Snowdon said:

“Capping stakes at £5 is bound to lead some gamblers to switch to unregulated websites. This is something the Gambling Commission should keep a close eye on.

“Of greater concern are the different rules for people aged under 25. Alongside the generational tobacco ban, the government is creating a two-tier adulthood which infantilises people who are old enough to vote but are apparently not old enough to enjoy all the benefits of being grown ups. This kind of arbitrary discrimination needs to stop.”
