Quoted in Telegraph, the IEA’s Head of Political Economy, Kristian Niemietz warns that a new points based immigration system “puts too much power in the hands of central government” arguing that businesses are “better placed than the state to decide what is missing from the current labour market“.
A points-based system risk causing a shortage of workers. Kristian argued the government is unable to effectively plan an immigration system based on the needs of an ever changing labour market.
