Ahead of this week’s Spending Review, IEA Economics Fellow Julian Jessop warned against tax rises.
Julian told The Telegraph that any announcements on tax should be to extend cuts already made “rather than offsetting them with increases elsewhere”.
He noted that while the government may use the pandemic to justify tax hikes, the government does not have a mandate to shift towards a higher spending and taxation economic strategy.
