Responding to the Prime Minister’s announcement of new national lockdown, IEA Economics Fellow Julian Jessop estimated that the cost to the UK economy could be 10 percent of GDP, or £18 billion every month.
Quoted by The Times, Julian Jessop added that “on balance this could be a price worth paying” to prevent tens of thousands of premature deaths and the NHS being overwhelmed.
