IEA research cited in The Telegraph
With the chancellor having pledged hundreds of millions to the charity sector, Patrick O’Flynn cites the findings of the IEA’s 2012 report ‘Sock Puppets’ in a column for The Telegraph, including that the “voluntary sector” already receives more funds from the state than from voluntary donations.
Patrick also notes that the report concluded that there are many adverse effects, “including the rise of “sock-puppet” charities which used public funds in order to lobby ministers for politically correct, left-wing policies that did not command widespread public support.”
