Christopher Snowdon, Head of Lifestyle Economics at the Institute of Economic Affairs, slammed politicians for failing to understand supermarkets and contributing to a false narrative that healthy foods are more expensive than unhealthy ones.

Responding to proposals from an APPG that supermarkets should store unhealthy foods out of sight of children and make buy one get one free offers on junk food illegal, Christopher was quoted by The Sun saying “politicians should familiarise themselves with the supermarket industry before they put forward their hare-brained ideas and needless interventions.”
