Prof. Len Shackleton writes for Spiked
IEA Editorial & Research Fellow Prof. Len Shackleton has penned an op-ed for Spiked, referencing his latest research, ‘Ad Break: Why Curbs on Advertising Harm Free Speech‘.
In the article, Len attacks the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for restricting advertising, arguing it is a threat to free speech. Len said: “paternalistic interventions assume that people are incapable of making their own choices“, adding that advertising restrictions “reduce competition” by “entrenching the market dominance of existing producers and discouraging innovation“.
