IEA Director of Public Policy and Communications Matthew Lesh has been quoted in the Daily Telegraph criticising the government’s new proposals to allow local governments to require planning permission before owners rent their properties as short-term holiday lets, like AirBnBs.

The article said:

“The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), a free market think tank, accused the Government of “scapegoating holiday lets for the housing crisis” and the proposals could harm local tourism economies.”
