This exciting programme is ideal for candidates interested in free market economics, communications, and digital content creation. You’ll gain hands-on experience across communications disciplines including in one of the think-tank sector’s only professional studios. You will support on content production, digital marketing, media engagement, press releases, and social media management.

We welcome motivated team players eager to learn. While experience is not required, candidates should have an interest in think tank communications, familiarity with social media platforms, and willingness to handle diverse digital and communications tasks. The key focus is on motivation and eagerness to learn rather than prior experience.

The internship is a temporary, unpaid, and voluntary position with commuting expenses covered, which is based in our Communications Team. As a Media Intern, you will have the opportunity to support all aspects of the IEA’s media strategy and digital presence, from idea generation all the way through to publication.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the Digital Production and Communications Managers. You will support them in managing our daily communications, creating content, scheduling, posting, and marketing.
  • Manage daily updates on the IEA’s website.
  • Draft and disseminate press releases, quotes and comments for media postings.
  • Monitoring and recording IEA mentions in traditional media.
  • Drafting the daily internal media briefing.
  • Creating reels, shorts and clips.
  • Running the studio and managing recordings – such as setting up sets, cameras and recording equipment for podcasts, explainers and TV interviews.
  • Generating ideas for posts and series that fits into the wider digital strategy.
  • Raise the visibility of the IEA by reviewing relevant news stories that can be posted.
  • Using platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, SubStack, X, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Editing on Premier Pro and After Effects.
  • Designing on Canva and Adobe InDesign.

The goal of the internship is for you to develop your digital and communications skillset and further the IEA’s mission on digital platforms and with traditional media. The internship lasts three months. However, depending on your performance, you will have the possibility of extending your time at the IEA. The internship will be fully on-site at our office in Westminster, London.
