Professor Len Shackleton quoted in the Yorkshire Post
The TUC has called for a public sector pay rise and an increase in the minimum wage to “level-up our unequal economy”.
In response, IEA Editorial and Research Fellow Professor Len Shackleton warned that “without pay restraint, public spending will increase still further and this will ultimately mean higher taxes”.
Quoted in the Yorkshire Post, Len argued that higher public sector pay would distort the labour market making it “difficult for private sector employers to recruit workers”.
