In an op-ed for The Telegraph, IEA Director of Communications Annabel Denham has criticised the government’s travel ban policy, arguing we should adopt Europe’s cost-benefit analysis approach when it comes to the travel industry. With the UK’s vaccine rollout success, it makes no sense to continue to curtail our liberties.
Annabel argued: “we should never forget that the ban was a needlessly brutal and authoritarian measure that rode roughshod over the contract between state and citizen. Control who enters the country – fine. But given this isn’t East Berlin, a GDR-style violation of our basic freedom of movement is not so fine”.
