IEA Head of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon has been quoted in City AM’s coverage of former Chancellor George Osborne’s call for the UK to ban smoking and extend the sugar tax.

Commenting on the failure of the sugar tax in 2019, Christopher argued that sin taxes will “fail because people can choose to eat and drink what they want in a free country.”

The article further quoted Christopher:

“The nanny state lobby’s solution is to stop Britain being a free country, and that is why they must be resisted.”
