IEA Director of Public Policy and Communications Matthew Lesh has been quoted in Politics Home warning that subsidising housing demand through schemes like Help to Buy does little to solve the core input to high house prices: lack of supply.

Matthew said:

“The only way to address the housing crisis is through policies that enable more houses to be built where people want to live; allowing people to borrow more money to buy one of the few existing houses just bids up prices,”
