Business owners in the hospitality sector are calling for an end to the furlough scheme as they struggle to fill vacancies whilst workers remain on furlough.

Commenting on the story in the Daily Mail, IEA Editorial and Research Fellow Professor Len Shackleton argued the furlough scheme has “gone on for far too long“, adding “We should not be holding back new businesses which need workers in a vain attempt to keep old businesses alive“.
