City AM has reported new research by IEA Head of Regulatory Affairs Victoria Hewson on the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

Victoria’s paper claims that the FOS is “unfit for purpose” as it has failed to fulfil its primary function of providing “fair and reasonable resolution of disputes at speed”.

Victoria said the FOS “is in danger of infantilising consumers, who are not expected to take responsibility for their decisions, and playing into the hands of claims management companies.”
