IEA Chief Operating Officer and Energy Analyst Andy Mayer has been quoted in City AM lamenting the government’s latest cash grab from energy producers.

Andy accused the government of implementing “cosplay energy socialism”, arguing that it would “make us all poorer, colder and dependent on imported gas.”

Andy also criticised the decision to reimpose the fracking moratorium:

“That’s why we’re sitting on 50-100 years of reserves, paying record prices, while begging the Americans to bail us out of a crisis next year.”
