“I can see that there is a role for the Church of England with respect to providing moral and ethical guidance and bringing attention to certain societal issues, but I’m not sure that role extends to lecturing the public on taxes and the structure of certain social programmes.
“We are already paying some of the highest taxes in in 70 years, it’s not clear that we can put up taxes much further without it squeezing everyone’s prosperity,”
