David Frost, the Rt Hon Lord Frost of Allenton PC CMG, became Director General of the IEA in January 2026.
He is best known as Chief Brexit Negotiator and Europe adviser to Prime Minister Boris Johnson and as Cabinet Minister responsible for EU relations in the Johnson government during 2021.
He spent most of his career prior to this as a professional British diplomat, with postings in Brussels, New York, Paris, and Nicosia, finishing as British ambassador to Denmark. Between 2013 and 2016 he was CEO of the Scotch Whisky Association, a UK trade association.
He is a non-affiliated member of the House of Lords and writer for the Daily Telegraph.
