In an op-ed for The Spectator, IEA Director of Communications Annabel Denham discussed the implications a home working economy would have on employers and employees.

Annabel argued we should keep a close eye on productivity levels to gauge whether the working from home stint over the course of the pandemic should remain. Annabel also warned a change in the labour market will also coincide with a raft of new union demands which will increase costs for employers.

Annabel said: “That our labour market has been knocked sideways by Covid hasn’t stopped trade unionists from demanding that government consider one-size-fits-all regulation to stop unscrupulous employers exploiting susceptible employees. In their warped worldview the balance of power between business and worker never weighs even“.
