IEA Editorial and Research Fellow Len Shackleton has been quoted by iNews in their piece covering the recent fall in the rate of inflation and what this means for future fiscal and monetary policy.

iNews wrote:

“Following the publication of the CPI data that suggests that inflation is coming down, free-market think tank the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) sent out a press release saying that there were ‘no grounds for further rate rises’.

“Editorial and research fellow at the IEA, Professor Len Shackleton, said: ‘Rishi Sunak’s pledge to halve inflation by the end of the year may still be optimistic, but at least there are no grounds for the Bank of England to raise interest rates further.
