Mark Littlewood, Director General of the Institute of Economic Affairs, branded the BBC licence fee an “outdated and ridiculous” way to pay for a television station in the 21st century.

Speaking to The Sun, Mark highlights the fact that people are used to paying a subscription for content they want to watch – whether that’s Netflix or the sports packages on Sky – but don’t face the same penalties for non-payment that come with the licence fee.
