The number of people being told to self-isolate after having been “pinged” by the Covid app has risen to hundreds of thousands per week, putting massive strain on parts of the economy, including public services.

Writing for The Telegraph, Emma argued that the flaws in the system must be fixed urgently to ensure the app no longer acts as “a strait-jacket rather than a tool for unlocking”.
