A persistent budget deficit, sluggish growth and a substantial array of spending commitments mean that we are unlikely to see meaningful tax reductions in this week’s Budget, says the IEA’s Director General Mark Littlewood.

Writing his biweekly column for The Times, Mark argues that “with surprisingly little room for manoeuvre on tax or spending, the government would be well advised to consider a serious effort at tackling an area of policy that is frequently overlooked — how to adopt a more practical and proportionate response to regulation.”
