Prof. Len Shackleton writes for 1828

IEA Editorial & Research Fellow, Prof. Len Shackleton, argued that the apprenticeship levy should be scrapped after it was disclosed that £1 bn of apprenticeship levy funds went unused in the nine months following last May.

In an article for 1828, Len said: “There is plenty of room for improvement in preparing young people for employment: it is still the case that too many exiting our costly education system are functionally illiterate and thus unlikely to benefit from apprenticeships or any form of career job“.
