Reem Ibrahim appears on talkTV

IEA Communications Officer Reem Ibrahim appeared on talkTV and discussed the UK’s accession to the CPTPP.

Reem said:

“I’ve been disappointed by the BBC coverage of this deal actually. The parts that have been quoted have been that 0.08 per cent figure. The Institute of Economic Affairs published a really good post on this where they looked at the static modelling which doesn’t actually take into account a lot of the factors and inputs at play.

“We don’t know which other countries are going to join in the future…we don’t know how this is going to impact GDP in the long-term.”

Reem referenced a blog by IEA Academic and Research Director James Forder on why the benefits of CPTPP membership may be being undersold. You can read the piece here.
