Julian Jessop, IEA Economics Fellow, has commented for the Daily Mail on the government’s plan to increase national insurance contributions by 1.25%, in an effort to fund health and social care. Many business leaders and MPs have criticised the measure, arguing that it will increase the financial burden on those struggling with a cost of living crisis.

Julian warned that increasing taxes may be “the final straw that tips the economy back into recession”.
