In a letter to The Times, Victoria Hewson, IEA Head of Regulatory Affairs, responds to an article about the Online Safety Bill.
Victoria writes:
“You stated that the bill does not “define what constitutes ‘harm’ and who is to decide on this woolly definition”. In fact the bill defines harm twice: once for the civil law duties on internet platforms, and again for new criminal offences.
“This mixture of criminal law and civil sanctions makes the bill even more dangerous for freedom of expression than many realise.“
