Freedom Week.

Freedom Week is an engaging, one-week summer school tailored for university students and recent graduates who are eager to explore classical liberalism and free-market economics. This immersive programme, organised jointly by the Institute for Economic Affairs and Adam Smith Institute, allows participants to engage with expert speakers, explore contemporary policy debates, and dive into the intellectual foundations of economic freedom and individual liberty. Whether you’re new to these ideas or looking to deepen your understanding, Freedom Week offers a vibrant learning environment that encourages critical thought and discussion, while promoting the role of freedom in driving human progress.

Content

Freedom Week combines daily academic sessions with social activities, creating a balance between intellectual engagement and relaxed, informal networking. Each day, participants attend around six hours of lectures and seminars covering topics such as:
– The history of classical liberal thought- Free trade and its benefits- Free markets and wildlife conservation
– Gender pay disparities
– Freedom of Speech
– The forgotten history of women in Western economic development
– Emerging threats to classical liberalism from the left and right
– Central banking and monetary alternatives

Eligibility
To be eligible for Freedom Week, applicants must:
– Be over 18 years old
– Currently enrolled at university, or, recently graduated
– Eligible to stay in the UK during the programme (Freedom Week does not provide visa sponsorship)

Activities
– Pub quiz nights with pizza
– Punting on the River Cam
– Game nights (board games and cards)
– Visits to traditional Cambridge pubs- Walks around the historic market square and landmarks
