IEA Energy Analyst Andy Mayer has been quoted in The Sunday Express discussing news that motorists across the country are paying congestion and clean air charges which total to a cost of around £1 billion.
Andy said:
“The principle of charging a fee to discourage air pollution is sound, the practice not so much, duplicating what is already charged on fuel and engine type in duties and car tax.
“The rates are punitive and particularly hard on the working poor.”
