Commenting on the collapse of energy company Together Energy, Andy Mayer, Energy Analyst at the Institute of Economic Affairs, said:
“Together Energy is the 26th UK retail energy company to collapse in a matter of months, and a totemic example of the failure of Britain’s “socialist” price cap.
“This is a Labour council-backed firm destroyed by socialist energy policies. The cost of this failure will fall on all of us, but particularly red wall Warrington.
“Together Energy tried to go 100 per cent renewable, they couldn’t. They tried to plan ahead, it wasn’t enough. They tried community ownership, it didn’t work.
“This state-backed green energy company was finally sunk by a £12.5m bill for green levies from the state they could not pay.
“Net Zero central planning has been a disaster. The government would be unwise to ignore these failures and add even more state controls to energy markets.”
