IEA Head of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon appeared on Newsnight to discuss the impact of the Sugar tax.

When asked whether the sugar tax had been a ‘win-win’ for businesses and consumers, Christopher said:

“No it’s not, I’m not particularly bothered how much money soft drink companies make, I’m interested in consumers and they’ve lost well over £1 billion since the sugar tax came in.

“Obesity hasn’t declined whatsoever (…) it went up in the first year of the sugar tax, it went up again in the second year,”
