IEA Head of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon has commented in The Daily Mail after the Scottish government opened a consultation on raising the minimum alcohol unit price by 15p to 65p per unit.

Christopher said:

“The Scottish Government’s attachment to this failed policy borders on the pathetic.


“With alcohol-specific deaths at a 14-year high, it ignores all the evidence that minimum pricing has been a failure.


“This policy has cost Scottish drinkers millions of pounds so far and will cost them even more if the floor price is raised.”
