“The IEA highlights a recently published study, by the Journal of Housing Economics , of rent controls over the past 50 years Overwhelmingly, it found their impact to be negative.
“Out of 16 studies that concentrate specifically on their impact on supply, 12 found it to have a negative one. Out of 16 studies that concentrate specifically on their impact on housing construction, 11 found a negative one.
“Out of 20 studies that look at their impact on the quality of rental housing, 15 found a negative one.”
