IEA Head of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon was quoted in the Yorkshire Times arguing that plans to raise the legal age of sale of tobacco to 21 was a “move towards prohibition“.

Christopher said: “Cigarettes are a legal product available to adults which, in the UK, means people aged 18 or over. If this All-Party Parliamentary Group and its friends at Action on Smoking and Health believe the age of consent should be higher, it should lobby to raise the voting age to 21“.
