Matthew Lesh, IEA Head of Public Policy and Victoria Hewson, IEA Head of Regulatory Affairs, have given their thoughts on the policy proposals outlined in the Queen’s Speech.

Matthew argued that, in spite of the government’s insistence that it will seize Brexit opportunities, “the government is steaming ahead with legislation like the Online Safety Bill and the Digital Markets Unit that will undermine free speech and discourage the next generation of tech entrepreneurs.”

Victoria added that, “We must stay vigilant to ensure that executive powers are not abused or used to add to, rather than reduce, regulatory burdens.”
