Plan B will cost the economy £4Bn per month

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Wednesday that the UK will move into Plan B Covid restrictions. IEA Economics Fellow Julian Jessop warned that further restrictions could cost the economy £4 billion per month and potentially wipe-off 2 per cent of GDP in the Daily Mail.

Julian added: “This is on top of all the social costs and harms to people’s wellbeing and liberties, as well as the risk of further disruption to children’s education“.
