IEA Head of Political Economy Christopher Snowdon has been quoted in The Daily Express questioning the government’s decision to scrap a £15 million energy saving advice scheme.

Responding to criticisms that such a campaign would be paternalistic, Christopher said:

“I’m no fan of the nanny state, to put it mildly, but even I don’t have a problem with being given a few tips on how to save money and potentially prevent blackouts during an energy crisis.”
