IEA Director General Mark Littlewood has been quoted in The Independent responding to research suggesting that one in four teachers and one in eight nurses could be dragged into the top rate of income tax by 2027 if they government fails to adjust tax thresholds.

Mark said:

“The higher rate of tax was initially envisioned to capture an enhanced revenue stream from super-high earners. Managing, at some point, to get your salary to above £50,000 surely can’t be said to be in that category,”
