IEA Head of Public Policy Matthew Lesh has written for The Times arguing that those who can pay for healthcare should do so.

Matthew wrote:

“The UK is almost unique in providing healthcare entirely free. Most developed nations, including Sweden, Finland and Norway, have some form of cost-sharing with patients.

“Reform would move the UK towards the successful insurance-based models used across Europe, which give patients a greater choice and provide better healthcare outcomes while still ensuring universal access to care.”
